Now Here is an award-winning Los Angeles based office that works to transgress distinctions between buildings, objects, interiors, texts, and drawings. Formed in 2017, Now Here is equally interested in what is made present by architecture, as well as what is thought and suggested by it. Both “Nowhere” and “Now Here”, the work of the office looks to the reciprocity of ideas and things to generate alternative engagements with architecture.

Katy Barkan is a Los Angeles-based designer and current faculty at UCLA’s School of Architecture and Urban Design. She was previously faculty at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, where she also received her M.Arch. She has learned from and collaborated with Architecture Research Office, MOS, and Preston Scott Cohen Inc. Her work was exhibited in the 2010 Venice Biennale and at the UCLA Galleries. Her work and writing have appeared in Architectural Record, Architect’s Newspaper, Clog, Pool, and Log. She is the recipient of the 2020 Rome Prize in Architecture at the American Academy in Rome.
